The Drop-In Center is a center for youth and young adults, ages 14-25 who need help with addiction recovery, mental health or educational and vocational needs in Clackamas County. The center focuses on helping at-risk youth, who may have drug addictions, be homeless or suffer from mental illnesses, cope with life’s challenges and give them a place to feel welcome and accepted in a community of peers. Each day, the center is open for youth to hang out, use computers, eat food and talk with peers who have similar experiences. Each week, the center facilitates groups to help them learn different kinds of skills. Currently they have a Leadership Group, a Recovery Group, and an Employment Group. The program utilizes the peer support program in a way that is unique in Oregon. The center sees about 40 youth and young adults each day, and the numbers are growing!
